Technical Surveillance

Technical Surveillance Equipment:

Technical surveillance refers to the use of a wide range of equipment which are used to capture images and sound from subjects over a period of time whilst remaining hidden. The purpose is to gather irrefutable evidence of the targets actions and words.

Anderson & Co only use the most effective technical surveillance equipment on the current market. This is important because the quality of your tech plays an integral part in our ability to investigate our subjects.

GPS Tracking

For an investigation, covert vehicle tracking is an essential. These devices allow us to follow a targets movements, potentially anywhere in Europe.

Vehicle trackers come in various shapes and sizes to deal with different situations as they come up. Some use super powerful electro-magnets to attach a car in a discreet place. It is important that the location is not visible to the point where someone servicing the car is unlikely to find it as these trackers can be on a vehicle for months at a time.

Not all trackers can be attached magnetically as some vehicles have non metallic bodies and we have an array of other devices which can be secreted in other ways. Professional investigators with experience are essential to deploy trackers. They need knowledge of where to plant as well the training to remain undetected whilst doing it.

GPS trackers give live updates of a person's journey and exact movements 24 hours a day. Within the tracker platform/app there are many different functions and settings allowing the client to be able to see a vehicle's movement and exact location.

The client will be able to see their targets movements in real time and track where they are going.

There are also street view options to view the target's location from the ground in a google map type format so that the location can be identified visually.

The devices used are discreet, reliable and a cost-effective way of being able to monitor a person's movements over longer periods of time.

Listening Devices

Listening devices are designed to record audio in the immediate vicinity whilst staying hidden. This is sometimes called bug surveillance

It is very important that the listening tech is small and discreet and deployed to an area where people seldom look. The battery life has to be functional for extended periods of time.

It is important that the recording bug is able to pick up conversation clearly. The audio could potentially be used in court or in disciplinary hearings so there has to be no ambiguity as to what is being said.

The technology needs to be state state of the art so that the recording is clear and legible. Again, the operative deploying it needs to have extensive experience in covert surveillance to ensure that the audio recording devices are positioned correctly. The position is paramount as it affects both how discoverable the device is and also how good the sound recording. Too hidden will muffle the recording and you will not get the audio evidence that you need. Too open and the bug will be found quickly.

Anderson & Co operatives have had specific training on where to place bugs so that they are in the least commonly checked locations. A quick and discreet deploy lowers the detection risk.

Covert Cameras

These are hidden cameras which are used to capture the actions of a subject to be used as evidence. Different cameras can produce still images or video footage.

The decision on what type of camera will be used will be based on the type of evidence needed and the ability to be discreet. If the target has claimed that they are immobile and they observed handling goods then it may be the case that video evidence is needed to show their actions. Still photos could be explained away as being an exception or "not what it looks like".

Still cameras will create sharper images and be able to record for a longer time and can be smaller.

Cameras can be secreted or carried on the operative or team of operatives so that the subject's actions can be observed on the move. This would be in cases where the subject is on the move or it is not known where they will be meeting.

If the subject or location that is being monitored is always in the same place or you know where they will meet then manned or unmanned static surveillance is used. This involves secreting a camera somewhere to get the best angle on the event that you are gathering evidence on. These cameras need to be secure, weatherproof, have long batteries and have long recording abilities to carry out cost effective prolonged 24 hour surveillance

Your Anderson & Co operative will advise you on the best way to capture the evidence that you need with either still or video recording equipment.

Diligent: Can private investigators hack or spy on cell phones or computers?

Hacking phones is simply not legal in the UK and Anderson & Co would not offer that solution for a surveillance case. Even if it were legal, the sheer complexity and difficulties in such an operation it would be near impossible to do it discretely and without leaving markers.

Discreet: The electronic devices must remain operating and covert

Anderson & Co are focused on only using the most state of the art technology coupled with the most experienced and qualified agents. If either the technology is deficient in any way or if our devices are discovered then the we will not achieve our goals.

This is why Anderson & Co view our technical surveillance services as being the linchpin of most of our investigations

We are fully GDPR compliant, members of the ICO as well as the Private Investigators network and WAPI. All material produced will remain 100% confidential at all times.
